More Tea, Vicar?
Episode 96
James and Wayne discuss the recent allegations of blackmail against Boris Johnson and the power of servant leadership in this episode of More Tea Vicar, recorded live at the Gathering.
In this week’s episode, Wayne and James look at what motivates us. Recent allegations of blackmail made against the Prime Minister haven’t been dismissed out of hand. Why is that? Well, it probably says something about how we feel about the PM - is he in this for us or is he in this for him? Would he do anything for power?
Looking a little further into the situation, we can see how our own failings can be quite similar, even if we wouldn’t like to admit that. If we think about our motivations for leadership and influence, what do they tell us? We can even find ourselves in a situation where we have read someone like Simon Sinek (Leaders Eat Last) and yet, still, be doing it for all the wrong reasons.
What we need is for God to create in us a new heart, so that, like Jesus, we can interact with the world in a way that shows that we have come to serve.

James talked about Simon Sinek's popular book on leadership, Leaders Eat Last.
The account of King David we referenced is found in 2 Samuel chapters 11 and 12.
