An interview with Frankie from Life Group Support Little Church
On Sunday at Little Into Big, James interviewed Frankie from Life Group Support Little Church. Life Group Support are a community of friends with an international outlook, helping people from Hong Kong to adjust to life in the UK. They meet on Fridays for English lessons and helpful talks about everything from school to the NHS, and how to buy a house. Some of the group have also recently started an Alpha course. James asked Frankie about what it’s been like moving to the UK and how we can pray for him…
Last year, you celebrated New Year in Hong Kong. This year in England. Why did you decide to leave Hong Kong?
I was a civil servant in Hong Kong and had worked for more than 20 years in the government. I was busy and focused keenly on my career.
When the BNO Visa scheme opened, I quit my job, sold my property and left HK to spend more time with my family and let my family experience a life of different culture in the UK.
What has God done in that time in your life?
It was a very difficult to decide to give up my career and leave my comfort zone. God helped me realise life is not for earning money only. God blessed the whole process and helped my family settle down through the assistance offered by the Christians in Bristol.
How can we pray for you and others from HK who are moving to the UK?
Migration is a big change and brings along a lot of pressure. I wish every family from Hong Kong would have a positive mind towards the changes and experience the love from local Christians.
I also hope the local people speak slower. I pray to God to give longer life to those who speak slowly.
